Meet Zhengfeng An, a member of the class of Fall 2021 who is graduating with his PhD from the Faculty of Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences.
What led you to choose the U of A for your studies?
The University of Alberta is a world-famous university and is known for quality research. The province of Alberta is very beautiful and has many beautiful sceneries. Moreover, my supervisor is very kind and knowledgeable. I knew I could definitely learn a lot from him if I choose U of A for my studies.
Tell us about your experience in the Faculty of Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences.
I really enjoy studying in the Faculty of Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences (ALES). There are a lot of opportunities for me to explore. Whenever I have questions, I can quickly find solutions. I have learned quite a lot with the help of the community in ALES.
What advice do you have for current and prospective students?
Do not hesitate, keep working hard, and try your best to learn anything that is good for you. Do not be afraid of making mistakes — it is an essential part of your life. And be optimistic — all your hard work will pay off!
How do you plan on celebrating convocation?
I will stay home with my family and cook a big meal for them.
What’s next for you after graduation?
I will continue to stay in Canada and work as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Alberta to continue my scientific research.
